Former Omaha Energy Defenseman Brandon Lowndes has signed with the Yarmouth Jr. A Mariners in the MJAHL (Maritime Jr. A Hockey League). The team is based in Yarmouth Nova Scotia. Brandon scored the first goal of the year in the first pre-season game on the power play. Brandon is the youngest D man on the team and one of only two Americans. This is a tremendous opportunity for Brandon who will play the season under Head Coach Steve Kasper. Coach Kasper played in the NHL for 13 seasons as a Boston Bruin and later for the Kings, Flyers and Lightning. Kasper then coached for a year in the AHL before taking on the role of head coach for the Boston Bruins for 2 seasons (1995-1997). Under the guidance of Kasper, the Mariners have been signing high profile players all summer. So far, the Mariners are 2 and 0 in the first regular season games.
